Who we are

This festival has been brought together by book loving FlemKen locals. Our aims are threefold: to highlight and celebrate the incredible literary talent in our community; to create opportunities for us to come together to think about creative endeavours and important issues; and to facilitate accessible and creative opportunities for our young people.

FlemKen has long been home to creative, brave and hardworking people. At a time when many of us feel stretched by the bare necessities of modern life, we wanted to create an annual window of time where we slowed down and came together to enjoy our creative or quieter pastimes, and to celebrate the artists that inspire them or make them possible. We also wanted to create spaces for great conversations. We are stronger together, and there are few things as satisfying or as life affirming as feeling seen and heard. Whether you observe a great conversation, or take part in one, we hope you come away feeling at home in FlemKen and inspired to pursue what matters to you.
